Sulafest 2009 - A Celebration of Wine & Song

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural Sulafest, Sulafest 2009 was bigger and bolder! With twice the number of people and busloads of revelers driving up from Mumbai, Pune and further-flung cities, the stage was set for a glorious day among the Sula vines. The excited crowds warmed up to the soulful music of Sridhar & Thayil. Shoppers used their bargaining skills to purchase clothing and ornaments, and hungry stomachs feasted on finger foods and, of course, Sula’s famous wines. An unseasonal thunderburst had revelers running for cover, but the clouds blew away and Jalebee Cartel took over for a stupendous two-hour live set – a rocking end to a great day. Inc. Magazine features Sula's CEO talking about the Indian wine biz

There are two big questions that CEOs the world over are being asked this year. “How long will the economic downturn last?” and “What is your company doing about it?” The Indian wine market, the world’s fastest-growing for the past few years, hit a rough patch recently. Rajeev Samant, CEO of Sula Vineyards gave his take on the road ahead for the industry. Click here to read the whole article.
The first in our series of Sula-related literary reviews

“Almost Single” by Indian writer Advaita Kala is classic chick lit with an Indian twist. The protagonist, 29-year old Aisha Bhatia, is India’s answer to Bridget Jones – single and navigating the Delhi dating minefield. Her favourite tipple – a glass of Sula! Where Bridget sipped Chardonnay, Aisha prefers Sula Chenin Blanc. Various vintages make cameo appearances throughout the book, liberally lubricating Aisha’s life. As she explains, “the one thing we girls know about is our alcohol; if it has to be Indian wine, it has to be Sula…” “Almost Single” has soared up the popularity charts since its release, and is available in all good bookstores, both online and offline. Our web site has the full list of wines featured.

Riyaz Amlani's Salt Water cafe livens up Bandra's dining scene

The ultra-hip Mumbai suburb of Bandra lends a playful air to fine dining at the newly opened Salt Water Café.
