Sula Vineyards is now an Approved Programme Provider for Level 1 and 2 WSET courses.
The Wine & Spirit Education Trust – Level 1 Foundation Certificate in Wines caters to the basics in wine tasting and food pairing.
Tasting and understanding the basic styles / types of wines, food & wine matching and storage / serving of wines form an integral part of the course.
The main objectives of the Level 1 course are:
- Introduce the main styles of wines
- Learn the characteristics of the principle grape varieties
- The WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting
- Service and retail of wine
- Matching Food & Wine
To gain the WSET Level 1 qualification, candidates will be required to:
Complete a program of training delivered by a WSET Level 1 Approved Programme Provider successfully along with;
- a multiple choice paper of 30 questions
- a portfolio of tasting notes
The course will be led by Sula’s head sommelier – Sovna Puri who has completed the WSET advanced course from London. She has also worked as the assisitant head sommelier at Benares-London’s leading fine dining Michelin starred restaurant for over 2 years, tasting some of the best wines available from across the globe.

- The course is priced at Rs. 8,500 (including taxes) – the price also includes tasting 8 different wines, a practical food & wine pairing session, lunch, tea/coffee (morning & evening).
- Full payment has to be made in advance
- Group bookings (five persons or above) can avail a discount of 5% on the course price.
- Please note that for group bookings, a date that is convenient to all in the group can be considered and accommodated, provided it is a weekend (Saturday or Sunday).
- The course is subject to availability of a minimum of six confirmed bookings on the specified date.
- The course is subject to Sula’s discretion and Sula Vineyards will not be held responsible in the event of course cancellation.
